is announcing a
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for the selection of candidates
for a regional part-time Master's level (Bologna) study programme
In the academic year of 2009/2010, the study programme will be organised for 50 students from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Serbia, who have completed a higher education programme of at least four years and are employed in libraries or related institutions.
The courses will be held at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, Department of Library and Information Science and Book Studies (twice for a whole week). A part of the lectures and workshops in the duration of a maximum of five days at a time will be held in Maribor, Zadar, Ohrid/Skopje and Prishtina. The lectures will be held in English. Other languages can also be used, if a lecturer agrees with it, during exams and for seminar papers.
The study is co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia within the programme of international development aid for libraries in the target countries within the COBISS.Net Project. The costs will be covered for enrolment, study fees, requested study material and accommodation (half-board) during the time of lectures and workshops outside the student's home country.
The application must include:
1. completed registration form
2. candidate's photograph in .jpg format
3. application for recognition of previously completed education for the needs of further education (all required enclosures included)
4. application for recognition of informally acquired knowledge and skills (required enclosures 1 and 2 from the form included; other enclosures must be provided subsequently when the candidate is invited to take bridge exams)
5. statement issued by the employer confirming the candidate's employment and the declaration that the candidate's participation in the lectures and workshops on workdays will be regarded as part of work duties and that all related travel costs will be covered.

The document under Item 5 must be provided in Slovenian, English, Bosnian, Croatian or Serbian (Latin script).
All applications must be sent by e-mail (one e-mail message with all attachments) from the candidate's own e-mail address to the following e-mail address: library-study@izum.si. The deadline is 5 April 2009 (23 April 2009).
By 15 April 2009 (6 May 2009), the applicants will be notified of the selection of candidates allowed to take bridge exams (either in Belgrade, Skopje or Tirana) in the third week of June when also individual interviews (including testing of the command of English) are conducted. At that time, all original documents forming part of the application will be submitted by the candidates.
The final selection of the candidates for enrolment
will be carried out by a joint Commission of the University of Ljubljana and the
Institute of Information Science in Maribor based on the results of the bridge
exams, the average mark achieved during the candidate's undergraduate study
programme, the results of the interview and individual countries' enrolment
quota. Preference will be given to candidates from the countries where the study
of librarianship does not exist and to candidates under the age of 40. A maximum
of two candidates can be selected from one institution. The candidates will be
notified about the selection by 30 June 2009 and invited to submit the
application by
10 September 2009.
The enrolment of the selected candidates and the first study session and workshops are planned for the beginning of October 2009.
