  1. Transferring country code for resource
    When cataloguing articles and component parts you can transfer the country code from the host item record.
  2. Unicode characters
    For faster and easier searching of characters, the link to Unicode character search is added.
  3. Changes with login and logout (COBISS Lib, COBISS Edu and COBISS Cat)
    • The button for logging in to COBISS Lib is removed.
    • The button with database designation and username with which you are logged in to COBISS Cat is changed (until now, this was also the button for logging out). Clicking the button displays the following:
      • name and surname of the user,
      • e-mail address from the COBISS Edu profile,
      • link for switching to COBISS Lib,
      • link for switching to COBISS Edu,
      • option to log out of COBISS Cat.
  4. Search window
    • Since records from the Library of Congress catalogue are accessible via the shared LC/DNB/OXF catalogue, the access to the LC Catalog database is removed.
    • The attribute ISBN is added to the default search results format in the LC/DNB/OXF catalogues, and the attribute ID is removed. In the LC/NAF database, the LCCN attribute is removed.
    • It is now possible to remove one or more selected results on the search results list.
    • Column with current numbers of search results is fixed and cannot be moved or widened.
    • Downloading from the LC/NAF database now uses the SRU protocol.
  5. Workspace
    • The button for switching between the search window and the editor is changed.
    • The icon that shows that you are downloading a record from COBISS.net and foreign databases is changed.
  6. Editor
    • A new software control prevents the saving of a record if the content of subfields 70Xabcdf was changed without filling in subfield 3. It is also impossible to save a record if a new field 70X is added without subfield 3.
  7. Display and compare records
    • Improved highlighting of differences between records in record display and compare window.
    • If the compared records do not differ, the “No differences” notification will be displayed above the system field.
    • Highlighting of changes when displaying a record or comparing records in a new browser tab is more prominent, and the gap between fields is wider.
  8. User settings
    • When searching in multiple identical fields, the option to use the OR operator between them is added.
    • From now on, new cataloguers will have the following settings enabled by default: Display errors when loading record in the editor and Refresh view after saving the record.
  9. Data conversion
    In the COBIB database, a data conversion was carried out in the system field of records from foreign bibliographic databases and NCIP records (data from subfield 000x was transferred to 000q, and subfields 000c and 000y were updated).
  10. Changes in masks and displays
    • In bibliographic databases, mask M no longer contains subfield 206a.
    • In standard display format, the content of field 471 is displayed.

  1. Search window
    • New button added to LC/DNB/OXF search window that shows details on the performed search – among others it shows the number of retrieved records in an individual database and the search request that was used with the SRU protocol.
    • After clicking the More results button, 30 records from each database (LC, DNB, OXF) are loaded from now on instead of 10.
    • The Frequency attribute is removed from the default display for authority records on the search results list.
  2. Viewer
    • The CIP button is added for libraries that create CIP records.
  3. User settings
    • The option to set the maximum number of records that can be added to the workspace (up to 100) is added. The default value is 50.
    • Also added is the option to automatically delete the oldest records on the workspace when the number exceeds the maximum number.
  4. When saving a record, the bottom edge of the interface displays an additional notification that the record can be reopened in the editor if it needs updating or correcting.
  5. The system field is updated so that it now also displays the data that is added when downloading records from foreign databases. The added data is the original ID and the original database.
  6. When deriving a new record from a record for corporate bodies, the field 992 is excluded.
  7. In bibliographic databases, the field 471 – Research data is added to input masks M, A and N, the subfield 970h – Other scientific articles is added to mask A, and subfields 971a – Research data – type and 971b – Research data – form are added to mask N. Also added are software controls for checking the correctness of the new subfields, input combinations and masks.
  8. In the SGC database, field 530 is added to the input mask FS.

  1. Procedures for editing the COBISS.SI General List of Subject Headings (SGC)
    Editing of the COBISS.SI General List of Subject Headings (SGC) for the editing team is enabled.
  2. Editing a limited bibliographic data set
    Editing a limited bibliographic data set is enabled.
  3. Transfer data to dCOBISS
    Switching from COBISS Cat to dCOBISS is enabled. In doing this, the general bibliographic data from the selected record on the workspace is transferred to dCOBISS.
  4. COBISS character map
    Simple copying of the most frequently used letters from the expanded Latin script, which are usually not available on standard keyboards and which can assist with data entry, is enabled.
  5. Invalid records
    Records marked for deletion or splitting, and unverified SGC records are displayed in grey on the search results list, on the list of related objects in the viewer, and on the workspace.
  6. Search window
    • Simultaneous search of records in catalogues of the Library of Congress, the German National Library and libraries of the University of Oxford is enabled (LC/DNB/OXF).
    • Parameter for turning off searching and downloading records from the WorldCat database is added.
    • It is now also possible to export records to the MARC Text format, which enables the display of bibliographic data with linked authority records in the COMARC format.
    • Transfer of user defined attributes for the search results display that were defined in COBISS3/Cataloguing is implemented.
  7. In bibliographic databases, new field 035 – Control numbers of records in other systems is added in all masks, whereas in the SGC database, default values in subfields 100b, 106a and 152b are added in all masks.

Fixes

  • When displaying e-mail addresses in the list of libraries that have a bibliographic record in their local database. If there is no COBISS contact person e-mail address in the COLIB database, the e-mail address of the principal, director or library head will be displayed from now on.
  • When displaying rows with the field designation and name if the data was entered by specific field groups and if the repeated fields were dragged and dropped (e.g., descriptive information fields, notes, links…).

  1. Release notes, available under the COBISS Cat tab on the e-manuals website, is redesigned and now available in two formats (.HTML and .PDF).
  2. Show list of libraries
    List of libraries with the record in their local database is enabled. It also contains contact addresses that can be listed separately (the E-mails button).
  3. List CIP report
    In the Bibliographies, news, etc. (abc, UDC) group of reports, the BIB051: List CIP report is added for libraries that create CIP records.
  4. Icon for a record in progress
    In the record viewer, display and compare window, the records in progress are now marked with a pencil icon in front of the system field.
  5. Search window
    • Buttons for removing search fields are added.
    • In bibliographic databases, searching with the prefix DE= is enabled.
  6. Workspace
    • The option to display a record in a new browser tab is now accessible through the Open in new tab button in the record viewer and compare window.
  7. Editor
    • Before editing COBISS2 records from the local database, a software notification is added that informs you that a record from COBIB was downloaded to the editor. You can compare this record with the record from the local database and transfer any field you want to it.
    • When entering the ISSN in subfield 4XXx in records for continuing resources, you can activate the transfer of the key title from the ISSN database to subfield 4XXa.
    • After entering the ISSN to subfield 011a or 011s and clicking the search button, the prefix SP= is automatically entered in front of the ISSN number in the COBIB database search window.
    • In the window for linking to records from the CONOR database, it is now possible to enter a search request in the Latin script and find an access point in the Cyrillic script, and vice versa, in those systems that use two scripts.
  8. Viewer
    • When displaying records from foreign databases in the COMARC format, the values from code lists are now also displayed along with the codes in coded subfields.
    • The Open in new tab button is added.
  9. CONOR
    • The status of the software control that checks if a record with a researcher code in the CONOR database refers to only one person (120b = “a”), is changed from “F” – Fatal to ”W” – Warning.

  1. Local records
    In libraries with local records (i.e. records that are only in local databases and not in COBIB), a procedure is enabled for checking and saving local records to COBIB.
  2. Bibliographies, subject headings
    Creating and printing of bibliographies and subject headings is enabled.
  3. Counters
    Defining counters is enabled.
  4. Deleted records
    Viewing the list of deleted records for an individual library is enabled. You can view records that have been deleted after 1 October 2018.
  5. Improved interface and graphic layout
    • The input field in the expert search window is wider.
    • In the editor, you now immediately see whether fields and subfields are mandatory and/or repeatable.
    • In the viewer/record display/compare window, the subfield designations are displayed in a more contrasting colour, the gap between indicator values and field designations is wider, and changes are slightly less highlighted.
  6. Search window
    • Access to search history showing the last 100 search requests in an individual database is enabled (the Last search button).
    • Number of records that are visible on the search results list in the search window is adapted to window size.
    • The search term you select in the Expand window is now entered to the search window input field in brackets.
    • In the search window in LC/NAF database, a search field is added that enables expanded search by author’s personal name; the software finds authors’ names with basic letters and diacritics, and at the same time a truncated search (*) is performed.
    • A column with data from the title is added to the search results list in the METADAT database.
  7. Workspace
    • When selecting fields to copy, it is now also possible to add fields directly to a record in the editor.
    • It is now also possible to copy fields from records from foreign databases.
    • Comparing all records on the workspace is enabled.
    • Records from foreign databases can be displayed in their original format in a new browser tab.
  8. Editor
    • When adding subfields, their repeatability is considered (non-repeatable subfields are no longer on the list).
    • The presence of subfield 320a is now also checked in records with 001t = “1.03”.
    • The status of software control that in article with 001t = “1.16” checks if the host item record contains subfield 001t is changed from “F” – Fatal to ”W” – Warning.
  9. User settings
    • The option for custom column width in the search window is added.
    • The option is added to check the validity of a record already when loading it in the editor and not just when validating or saving a record.
  10. CONOR
    • In COBISS systems in which authority control is not yet activated it is now possible to delete records in the CONOR database.
    • With the CAT_CONOR privilege, it is also possible to unlock records that were adopted by other libraries.

  3. Shortcuts

    In records that are currently being edited, the author data display is updated. All variant forms of the names from the authority database are visible simultaneously.
